I got denied by discover credit card due to not having a green card.
They said, it is just their policy that they won't give credit cards to
people who don't have green cards.
I could't co-sign my friends student loan application as i did't have a green card. They said, i have to be Permanent legal resident to co-sign.
Though i have a mortgage now, my first mortagage application got denied on same grounds.
Apparently fannie mae guildelines stipulates that H1B(foriegn investment) needs to put 60% down to get a mortgage loan.
But most of the lenders do mortgages anyways even for the people who does't have a ssn:).
Discover Card is a bit picky...I applied a second time around and they approved it.

I worked for an employer in WY 2004 as a physician and since then i resigned and moved onto another job with a new labor and I-140. However last year at the time of July isa bulletin fiasco, I asked my employer from WY in 2004 to file for an I-140 based on the previous approved labor condition in 2004 to retain that priority date under EB -2.
Employer knows I have no intent of joining them after the green card and I have my own practice , so i donot intend to join the practice.
In this scenario, if this considered a misuse of retaining priority date and how do i prove the intent and will the USCIS allow a situation like this?

Visa stamping is not necessary to remain in the US so wondering why a CPA would consider this a necessary work expense.

Every one can interpret them to their own way and can decide whether its deductible or not. Any thing related to business expenses, if IRS were to question the tax payer, IRS will ask for written substantiation from the employer. Guess what happens! The same CPA who told all these rosy stories and got a decent percentage on your fattest return simply tells you to get that letter. With out all that documentation, I doubt they will fight the audit.

Similarly, it is possible, in certain limited situations, to transfer a priority date from an approved I-130 petition to a later family-based filing. On occasion, however, it is difficult to make the service centers aware that the beneficiary has an earlier priority date.
The NSC, on June 14, 2005, provided instructions for a person filing a petition and requesting an earlier priority date based upon a previous case. A brightly-colored, flagged sheet of paper should be included to indicate that there is an earlier priority date. A copy of the prior I-797 Approval Notice of the I-140 petition should be inserted directly behind the brightly-colored sheet of paper. Though the NSC did not indicate where this should go in the filing, it is generally best to put such requests on the top of the filing or directly behind the cover sheet, to maximize the chance that it will be seen and acknowledged. Is that mean i can file I-485 with my previously approved I-140? I have also drop an email to my HR regarding the same. We do not have direct access to Attorney as every thing has to be directed by HR.

You will not be able to get a original document from lawyer/company. if you have maintained a good relationship with the lawyer/company, you can request a copy of it.

Since your wife is the primary applicant as you mentioned I dont think you need to wait for 180 days. Your employer is no way concerened with your EAD/ GC. But in case both you and your wife are working for same H1 employer then you moving might ring alarm bells for him but in case 180 days are already over then there is not much he can do.

The info I got is I can not apply for 7th year based on the approved LC I have. But I can apply for 7th year based on the LC pending with PBEC. My problem is that LC applied in Marc 2005, is thr some other employer and I do not have any details of this application. I sent 3 emails to PBEC for screenshot which can be used as proof od pending LC and I can then apply for 7th year extension. But unfortunately I did not get any response from PBEC, I know some people get the response within 2-3 hrs from them????
Another possibility is if the pending I-140 is approved by Aug end I can apply for 3 year extension.
So I am totally uninformed what's the future. I talked with the lawyer who filed my earlier labor, she says we can demand for screenshot only in June, then we will get response from PBEC.

My LC got approved through perm in my 6th year
and I140 applied and pending .
6th year expires in Sept06.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Another possibility is if the pending I-140 is approved by Aug end I can apply for 3 year extension.

Folks, We need participation for our So.Cal event this sunday. We targeted sending a 1000 letters from our group. However we only sent 21 letters so far and we have long ways to go to reach our goal. I strongly beleive we can achieve our target if every member of our group comes forward and paticipates in this Action Item. We have 135 members in our group and I strongly believe we can achieve our goal as a team.

Remember, the NOID/RFE goes to your Attorney if you have submitted G-28 form. If not, it comes to you.
Usually they send 2 copies - one to your home address and another to your Attorney. Always make sure your current address is on file with USCIS

You can search for the senator's name and see which district he/she represents on a map on wikipedia. If you know someone who lives in that area request that person to call. It makes an even bigger impact if a constituent calls.

I am sorry for posting in here, but I was wondering if someone actually went in person to the Houston Consulate to get their passport renewed. Also, do we need to have any reason to attend in person at the Consulate such as emergency, etc.
I am from India and my passport is expiring on Aug 17. I read before in the forum that it is better to go in person to renew the passport. Any experiences please let me know.

Our Current EAD is expiring on 10/01/2008. So we had applied for extension in june
This is mistake. I got my EAD last year with validity only between 10/01/2007 and 01/01/2008. I called USCIS. They have asked me to send a new application for a new card with out the application fee. You probably have to do the same. Since it is mistake on their part you don't have pay any fee. Please talk to USCIS, they will let you know how to proceed.
